🔥 About Belarus Hyperinflation (1991-2025)
Belarus experienced one of the most EXTREME hyperinflation episodes in modern history with an average of 190.0% annually over 33 years! The hyperinflation peak was 2,220.9% in 1994, with other devastating years: 1,190.3% (1993), 970.3% (1992), and 709.3% (1995). This resulted in an overall price increase of 10.20 BILLION PERCENT from 1991-2025. A currency catastrophe of unimaginable proportions! Recent stabilization: 15.2% (2022), 5.0% (2023), 6.0% (2024).

Post-Soviet Economic Collapse: Belarus' hyperinflation resulted from the catastrophic transition from the Soviet planned economy to market systems. Currency instability, price liberalization, and loss of trade relationships with former USSR republics created perfect conditions for one of history's most severe monetary disasters.

Historic Hyperinflation Context: Belarus ranks among the worst hyperinflations ever recorded, comparable to Weimar Germany (1923), Hungary (1946), and Zimbabwe (2008). The 1994 peak of 2,220.9% means prices increased by 23x in a single year!

Currency Reforms: Belarus underwent multiple currency denominations to manage the astronomical numbers. What started as Belarusian rubles became new rubles, then Belarusian rubles again, each time removing zeros from banknotes that had become practically worthless.

Modern Stability: Since 2018, Belarus has achieved relative price stability compared to the 1990s hyperinflation era, though inflation remains elevated compared to developed economies due to ongoing economic and political challenges.
